The American Red Cross is people like you who volunteer their time to make our services possible. Volunteers are vital to every service that the Red Cross provides in our communities. Whatever your schedule, whatever your skill, Red Cross needs you. The North Central Wisconsin Chapter of the American Red Cross offers many exciting and rewarding volunteer opportunities and we are always looking for new volunteers! Our volunteers come from all walks of life. Volunteer schedules are flexible, and we provide the training. All we ask is that you bring commitment and enthusiasm to help your neighbors!

If you are considering a Red Cross volunteer opportunity, you can begin learning about the organization right now:

The American Red Cross is one of several community organizations working together to respond to disasters. The Red Cross involves annually matching knowledge, skills, interests and experience of individual's with opportunities to serve their community.

Emergency and International Services
Disaster Action Team (DAT) Member: Trained disaster volunteers are on-call to respond to the scene of a fire or other emergency in order to provide aid and comfort to disaster victims. The volunteers are on-call on a weekly daytime or overnight basis.

Community Disaster Education Presenter: Volunteers teach disaster preparedness to schools, businesses and organizations.


Armed Forces Emergency Services Military Briefing Volunteer: Volunteers present information to members of the U.S. Armed Forces prior to their deployment regarding the services that the Red Cross provides to military personnel and their families.

International Social Services Tracing Volunteer: Trained volunteers help locate missing family members separated by armed conflict or disaster.

Health and Safety Services
Health and Safety Instructor: As a trained and certified Red Cross instructor, individuals teach cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid, how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED), water safety and/or life guarding courses. (Volunteers who make a commitment to teach for the Chapter will be reimbursed for their training.)

Health and Safety Community Outreach Volunteer: Volunteers educate the community about the classes.

Youth Services (opens in new window at national Red Cross site)
Youth Courses for Life Instructor: Teach basic first aid, accident prevention and water safety classes to youth.

Youth Task Force Advisor/Member: A youth-run, youth-led group of volunteers who plan and carry out service projects that benefit the community.

Red Cross School Club Member: Teacher sponsors who host and lead students of all ages in service learning activities designed to promote positive changes in their community, their school and in the lives of their peers.

Blood Services (opens in new window at national Red Cross site)
Blood Services Volunteer: Help escort blood donors through the blood donation process at one of the numerous blood donation drives across the area.

Marketing and Communications
Public Affairs Volunteers: Work with the media to inform the public about what Red Cross services are being provided during a disaster response.

Operations (Chapter Headquarters)
Reception/Operations Volunteers: Help greet visitors in person and on the phone at the reception desk and assist selling chapter merchandise.

Finance and Accounting (Chapter Headquarters)
Accounting Volunteers: Assist with the day to day accounting procedures.

Human Resources/Volunteer Services (Chapter Headquarters)
Volunteer Presenter: Volunteers help with clerical work and conducting volunteer orientations.
